CST 438 - Week 1

Based on what was discussed during the orientation, I believed we would cover various components of software engineering, but that it would lean more towards concepts rather than practical implementations. After completing the course work for week one I would say that there is a mix of both, however there is a lot more "hands-on" work in terms of understanding new concepts and putting them into practice. In particular, lab one took me some time to wrap my head around, given that it integrated so many different concepts (sql, databases, java, web development, etc) and introduced the Spring Server. Overall, I feel like I came in with different ideas of what the course would cover, but I was pleasantly surprised by what we are learning.
